Just got sent this amazing video of archival footage from the grandson of Polish conductor Artur Rodzinski, music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra and New York Philharmonic in the 1930s and 40s. This is never before seen footage from Artur Rodzinski’s personal collection.
There’s some great shots of Maurice Ravel, George Gershwin, Richard Strauss, Leopold Stokowski, Vladimir Horowitz and many others goofing off, smoking cigarettes, drinking drinks and generally having a good time in front of the camera.
